Dr. Cecilia C. Pring, Dean of the College of Nursing and Dr. Jake M. Laguador, Director of the Research and Statistics Center led the delegation from LPU-Batangas in the recently concluded 3rd Research and Educational Development Training Institute (REDTI) International Conference on Research Output Dissemination Across Disciplines held in Hotel Supreme, Baguio City, December 4-6.
With a theme, “Sharing Knowledge across Borders and Beyond”, the conference objectives were to abreast with the latest developments in the field of education, technology and culture; to offer platform for academic exchange; and to give opportunities for collaboration and networking among educational institutions. Highlighted by the plenary forum and parallel sessions entailing research across disciplines, the event registered over seventy national delegates.
Plenary Speakers
In his keynote speech, Prof. Naas Dymyttenaere, the Executive Director of the Institute of Inclusive Education at St. Louis University talked about “Understanding Inclusive Education”. He presented a framework on how to build a better Philippines through developing the potentials of the students in terms of learning how to live together, learning to be, learning to do and learning to know. He also emphasized the importance of reducing prejudices, uses of universal design of education with appropriate support from the government and private agencies.
Mr. Zubair Sadiq, an incorporator from Wisdom Academy in Pakistan, then tackled the Status of Research Publication in Pakistan while RM Uththara S Senarath dealt on the status of publication in Sri Lanka and quality research for international publications. They mentioned the process of submission and emphasized the significance of adhering to standards and policies on research ethics and publication.
Meanwhile, Dr. Feliciano G. Calora, Jr, the Director of FERD-PCAARRD-DOST discussed the History, Organizational Structure of DOST, PCAARRD and FERD; PCAARD’s Mandate, Vision, Mission; FERDs Mission and Objective; PCAARRD’s Banner Programs; PCAARRDS Research Agenda in terms of Technology Chain, Industry Strategic Science and Technology Plans/Programs; FERDs ISP outcomes and Network of Implementors.
LPU-B’s papers
During the parallel sessions, Pring presented her paper entitled, “Aptitude Test and Academic Performance as Predictors to Nurse Licensure Examination” while Laguador, gave an oral presentation for his paper on “Engineering Students’ Interest towards their Degree Program and their Average Final Grade in Engineering Mathematics as Factors in Program Retention” under Social Science track.

Dr. Jake M. Laguador, Director for Research and Statistics received four research awards: Outstanding World Researcher 2014, World Research Citation Award, IAMURE World Publication Award and Best Oral Presenter from International Association of Multidisciplinary Research (IAMURE) during the 2nd Asian Conference on Multidisciplinary Research in Higher Education (ACMRHE) held at the Marco Polo Hotel Davao City on November 26-28, 2014.
Several awards were given to the distinguished research participants and presenters based on the criteria set by the IAMURE. One of the highest awards was given to Dr. Laguador as Outstanding World Researcher in recognition of his global research contributions through his scientific articles in international journal publications, his speakership/lectureship engagement in research, his social responsibility to the scientific community, and an article citation count based on an H-index of 4 in his world publications, making him a model to researchers across the world.
He was also a recipient of the World Research Citation Award for 2014 in recognition of his impact in the global scientific community as evidenced by citation in other scientific publications, making him a great role model to researchers across the world. IAMURE World Publication Award 2014 was also given to Dr. Laguador in recognition of his global achievement for having one (1) published article in 2013-2014 in an international peer-reviewed online, indexed, cross-referenced, ISO certified scientific journal circulated and read in 220 countries, published by IAMURE Multidisciplinary Research, making him a great role model of researchers across the world. Dr. Laguador was also awarded as Best Oral Presenter for the paper entitled: “Outcomes-based Faculty Performance Evaluation: Basis for a Revised Appraisal Instrument”.

Other Research Presenters from LPU-Batangas
Mrs. Amelia B. Bay presented her paper entitled “Career Related Profile of Freshman Students for Academic Year 2013-2014: Basis for a Career Development Plan. Meanwhile, Mr. Joseph Cezar L. Deligero presented his paper entitled “Freshman Students’ Contributing Factors in Pursuing Higher Education in One Private Asian University”. He received the Platinum 2nd Prize Award for Best in Talent.
Engr. Evelyn De Castro presented her paper entitled “Controlled Access Cabinet Door Lock via Android Phone” and she received the Best Dressed Researcher for Female Category. Engr. Nemy H. Chavez presented her paper entitled: “Applied Cooperative Learning Approach on Industrial Engineering Laboratory Courses” and she received the Best Abstract Award for Education.
The conference was indeed successful for LPU-Batangas participants where the efforts and hard work of the researchers were truly recognized by an international research organization.
The 4th International Conference on Multidisciplinary Research with the theme, 2015 ASEAN Integration: Challenges and Opportunities in Multidisciplinary Research was held at Nature’s Village Resort, Talisay City, Negros Occidental on February 4-6, 2015 and attended by Dr. Jake M. Laguador (COE/RESC), Dr. Jennifer D. Maderazo (DENT), Dr. Maria Simplicia Flores (CAMP) and Ms. Marilou Contreras (CAMP).
The conference aimed to disseminate, share and discuss research findings that weave multidisciplinary research and development education; to learn from the experiences and best practices of researchers on academic journals and research; recognize meritorious achievement of researchers, research leaders and academic journals; and strengthen partnerships among researchers for sustained sharing of knowledge, experiences and best practices.
Dr. Jake M. Laguador presented his paper entitled “Employees’ Organizational Satisfaction and Its Relationship with Customer Satisfaction Measurement of an Asian Academic Institution” while Ms. Marilou A. Contreras and Dr. Maria Simplicia E. Flores presented their institutional research entitled “An Exposure Assessment of Identified LPU Employees with Work-Related Musculosketal Disorders” and Dr. Jennifer D. Maderazo presented her action research entitled “Stress Management of Dentistry Students of Lyceum of the Philippines-University-Batangas”
Dr. Maria Simplicia Flores and Ms. Marilou Contreras were adjudged as the Best Oral Research Presenter in the area of Allied Health while Dr. Jennifer Maderazo was awarded as the 2nd Best Oral Research Presenter in the area of Public Health while Dr. Laguador also awarded 2nd Place in the area of Organizational Management.
