    The Industrial Engineering Department of the College of Engineering under the supervision of Engr.  Angelita M. Pagcaliwagan together with Engr. Nemy H. Chavez spearheaded a Research Development Seminar for Industrial Engineering Students enrolled in Undergraduate Research which was held on July 11, 2014 at the LIMA Campus with Dr. Jake M. Laguador, Research Director as Resource Speaker.The activity aimed to train the students on how to write a basic research through identifying its parts and contents as well as determining the steps on scientific research writing process. It was discussed during the seminar the five phases of action research: selecting an area or focus, studying the literature, collecting data, organizing data and analyzing and interpreting data.Dr. Laguador highlighted the importance of having comprehensive review of studies and literature along with the significant findings and contribution of the research paper to a certain group of people, community or country at large. Basic formatting and APA styles of in-text citation and referencing were also emphasized. The speaker also motivated and encouraged the students to publish their outputs after the completion of the research paper. It is very important to disseminate their research findings through presentation and publication either in national or international level.He also mentioned how the paper citation process works and how to utilize information found in Google Scholar. Citation index is very important in research papers of authors from the academe whose institutions are included in the QS World University Ranking.During the lecture, the speaker tried to make some examples out of the present proposed topics of the participants, so that they could participate in the discussion and they asked questions to clarify some points from their proposals. The speaker also made it clear to each group on what particular sampling technique is most appropriate to use in their respective papers.  Protocols in table formatting, proper way of writing the analysis and interpretation as well as correct statement for conclusion and recommendation were also given emphasis.The seminar was indeed fruitful as the students organized their thoughts and provided clear directions on what to do next on their papers.

   Addressing Environmental Concerns through Research Utilization is a three (3) day conference that takes part of the 22^nd Annual Conference of Philippine Society for Educational Research and Evaluation (PSERE) Inc. The first two days of the conference was allotted to the plenary sessions and research presentations while the 3^rd day was scheduled for a benchmarking tour to different sites concerning utilization of research findings.  The conference aimed to ensure the effective utilization of research outputs  towards an improved human, institutional productivity, efficiency and effectiveness in academic and administrative management and operational viability in disaster preparedness, risk and crises management, peace and order.

   Mr. Mario R. Marasigan a senior full time faculty of the College of Nursing attended the 2^nd National Multidisciplinary Research Conference. The Research conference with a Theme “ Higher Education: Intensifying its Role in Addressing Diverse Global Challenges” aims not only to enhance research capability of faculty members and researchers of HEIs nationwide , but to examine key issues and problems from a multidisciplinary perspective, a holistic view of all their complexities can be guaranteed. Research that will address problems in poverty, climate change, and scarcity of resources, exploitation and violence were needed, hence they constitute a threat to the world’s survival and concrete solutions are an imperative.Prof.Petronila E. Florendo Director, University Research Center of University of Northern Philippines open the conference and present all the delegates from (61) sixty one colleges, gathering more than 300 participants. Hon. Eva Marie Singson Medina, City Mayor of Vigan and Hon. Ryan Luis V. Singson the Provincial Governor congratulates the organizer and thanking for hosting such events. They welcomes the participants, encourage them to do multidisciplinary research. They invited us to see the vigan heritage and taste Vigan delicacies. They ask to vote Vigan as one of seven wonder city of the world. Dr. Gilbert R. Arce University Northern Philippines President welcomes all guest and participants. The conference will stage a three day activity from April 30 to May 02, 2014.

     As LPU Cavite celebrates its foundation week, the management launched the 1^st Regional Congress in Research Across Disciplines which is a pioneering attempt to showcase and disseminate original, commendable and innovative undergraduate researchers across various disciplines. This premier one – day congress intends to promote the research culture, exchange and disseminate students’ research outputs within Region IV – A, CALABARZON, towards establishing linkages, associations and useful innovations. This activity is also in line with the university’s mission of advancing and preserving knowledge by undertaking research and disseminating and utilizing its results in veritas et fortitude, Pro Deo et Patria.With the theme “Promoting Undergraduate Research Dissemination and Innovation”, LPU Cavite invented students for paper presentations on the area of psychology, gender and sexual sensitivity, education, media communication, mathematics, leadership, business management and governance, biological sciences, skill, competencies and performances, multimedia, module documentary, health, engineering, health and community development, tourisms and ecological management. The program included a plenary session in the morning addressed by the keynote speaker, Dr. Leonida S. Calagui, Director IV of CHED CALABARZON and parallel afterwards.The objective of congress are (a) to create an avenue where original, commendable and innovative undergraduate researches are recognized and disseminated from and within CALABARZON area; (b) to promote the culture of research among and as early as the undergraduate level; (c) to build potential and continued linkages among students and other higher education institutions.

   Philippine Association for Graduated Education (PAGE) is an association of professional and institutions actively promoting, supporting, and administering relevant and globally recognized graduate education programs and other continuing professional initiatives. PAGE conducted its 47^th National Convention last February 21 – 22, 2014 at the KAchina Hall, Century Park Hotel, Malate Manila which was attended by Dr. Cecilia Pring, AVPAR and Graduate School coordinator of Master of Arts in Nursing; Dr. Amada G. Banaag, Dean of CEAS and at the same time the program coordinator of the Graduate School of Education, Arts, Sciences and Dr. Jake M. Laguador, Research Director. The theme of this year’s convention is “Quality Graduate Research as a Response to ASEAN 2015”. The convention aimed to provide a venue for bringing together Graduate School and administrators, faculty members, researchers, graduate students and partners in various industries; have a forum for identifying framework for collaborative research; and address issues relative to the conduct of institution-based and externally funded or commissioned collaborative researches.

     The East Asian Forum of Nursing Scholars (EAFONS) was initiated in 1997 by Prof. Ida Martison and her colleagues at School of Nursing (formerly Department of Nursing and Health Sciences) of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. It aims to provide a regular regional forum for doctoral prepared nurse academics and their students since 1997. Yearly forums have been held in Hong Kong, South Korea, Thailand, the Philippines, Taiwan and Japan.This year, EAFONS celebrated their 17^th International Conference at the Philippines spearheaded by the University of the Philippines (UP) Manila with its all-over Chair Dr. Josefina Tuazon. The theme is “Scaling up Partnerships for Graduate Education and Research”.The aim of this years’ conference is to strengthen and promote high quality doctoral education in nursing as well as create an academic environment and socialization for East Asian Scholars through international collaboration and cooperation. The objectives are to inspire the search for excellence in teaching, learning and research in doctoral nursing programmes, to facilitate collaboration and cooperation among nursing scholars in East Asia, to identify innovative ways of resource sharing in doctoral nursing education in East Asia and to convene annual meetings of doctoral students and their supervisors in member countries on a rational basis.

      Part of the mission of Lyceum of the Philippines University – Batangas is to disseminate the research findings of the faculty researchers in International Research conferences. Therefore, LPU – Batanagas sent 10 research presenters in the 3^rd International Research Forum spearheaded by Research and Educational Development Training Institute (REDTI) last December 4 – 6, 2013 at the Hoel Supreme , Baguio City with the theme: “Sharing Knowledge Across Borders and Beyond”.The forum aims to provide an avenue for researchers from different Higher Education Institutions to share the insights and significant findings of their scholarly works. It upholds the needs of every HEI for accreditation that research is one of the important functions that requires active involvement of faculty members. Attending research conferences like this would enhance the confidence, competence and skills of the faculty members to get more ideas and concepts on how other authors looked for ways to offer solutions to problems in the academe and the community.

    The Philippine Nursing Research Society (PNRS) celebrated its 6^th National Nursing Research Conference, a two day affair which was attended by nursing professionals, leaders and students from different universities and colleges in the Philippines and even abroad. It was held at Crown Legacy, Hotel in Baguio last November 29-30, 2013.The Registration started at 8 o’clock in the morning followed by a processional and entrance of colors then by a doxology and the singing of the national anthem rendered by the SLU Nursing Choir. It signals the official opening of a two days program. All participants and guest were warmly welcomed by Dr. Erlinda Palaganas, the over-all chair of the event and the President of PNRS – National. Participants were recognized and applauded, the organizer were appreciative for the warm response to their call in bridging the gaps in nursing research.The research conference aims to describe the specific directions in the health research in general and in nursing research in particular; to identify gaps in current research knowledge and the challenges in nursing practice in the areas of research ethics, research agenda, research methodologies, research capability and management, and research utilization; and to initiate and strengthen the network with and among health researchers and advance nursing care studies and evidence based practice.

    The seminar and workshop was sponsored by Federation of Professional Associations of Region IV-A. The speakers of the event were Dr. Pedrito Lucuanan of the Commission of Higher Education (CHED) and Dr. Jean Tayag of the Office of Policy, Planning, Research and Information of CHED on the first day, Dr. Florence V. Reyes of Mathematical Society of the Philippines CALABARZON and Dr. William Padolina of Philippine-California Advanced Research Institute (PCARI) on the second day and Dr. Guillermo M. Rago of Department of Science and Technology Region IV on the last day. It was a three day activity of seminar and research presentation from different universities.The Summit aimed to align the regional research agenda with the National Education Institutions in Region IV-A for 2008-2018; to strengthen networking and collaboration among HEI’s and to encourage research among younger generations.

The PNHRS aims to promote cooperation and integration of all health research efforts in the country to ensure that research contributes to health policies and actions.With the regional health research systems at the helm of the PNHRS, the sessions were so designed to make the event a platform for partners from the regions to discuss with their counterparts.Joining the event are the PNHRS’s core agencies namely the Department of Health (DOH), Philippine Council for Health Research and Development-Department of Science and Technology (PCHRD-DOST), Commission on Higher Education (CHED), and National Institutes of Health (NIH)- University of the Philippines Manila.Each region from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao are well-represented by health research organizations and various students from the different medical and nursing schools.
